Greenwich Shopping Park's Student Stylista, Megan Hunt, talks florals for February...
Soon spring will be in full swing and in the mist of the winter blues there could never be a better time to inject some colour and life into our wardrobes and what an easy way to do it… with florals. So here I’ve found three easy ways to make February’s floral trend work well.
Layering
Layering is great to make florals work in the daytime and there couldn’t be a better time to keep warm. Start with opaque tights, military boots, and a dress, like this floral vest dress from Next (£12.00.) Throw on a bomber or leather jacket, to help toughen up and to add an edge to such a feminine look. On colder days add a chunky knit scarf to complete the look.
Dresses
Florals can be glammed up for the evening or dressed down for the day. And with so many different styles of floral dresses available, there is a style to suit every shape and size. I love this floral ra-ra dress from New Look, it’s perfect for a daytime look with flat boots and leggings or for evening glam it up with some killer heels.
Shorts
Floral shorts are dominating the high street at the moment, and they’re already become a big trend for 2010. Floral print shorts look great with a boyfriend blazer and heels for a more sophisticated evening look. Floral culottes are also an option if you’re not confident enough to wear a more structured short. Team your shorts with thick tights and flat shoes for a casual daytime look.
I love this floral playsuit from Dorothy Perkins (£30.00), and its culottes style shorts make it bang on trend.
