Festival Chic

June 30th, 2009

Glastonbury has put the summer festival season into full swing, and with the likes of Global Gathering, V Festival and Reading Festival to follow in July and August, here’s how to pull-off festival chic...

Boho Dresses
Whether you opt for a maxi, floaty or short version of the boho-style dress this summer, it is the perfect festival item that will effortlessly take you from day to night. This orange boho dress from Next is gorgeous, wear it with wellies or flip-flops depending on the weather and co-ordinate with sunglasses and a fringed bag for ultimate festival glamour.

Festival Accessories
It’s all about accessories when it comes to festivals, as they can give any outfit an edge, and won’t take up too much room in your backpack. Use plain t-shirts, vests and denims as a base and then add chunky belts, lots of wooden bangles, over-sized beads, across the body bags and patterned neck scarves to update the look. Don’t forget, wellies needn’t be boring, these black ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ ones from River Island are super cool.

And for the gents...
Try wearing a pair of Wayfarer inspired sunglasses, like this Union Jack patterned pair from Topman at Outfit, and team with a straw trilby hat.  Wear ripped jeans, extra style points for skinny jeans, with flip-flops or wellies, checked shirts, cardigans and hoodies to give Pete Doherty a run for his money.

Don’t forget
• A massive pair of sunglasses: These will disguise the fact that you got not sleep last night, or the night before…
• Layers: Because you never know which direction British weather will take…
• Coats: A parka for chilly evenings, and a waterproof for when it rains, which it undoubtedly will…
