Style: Check Shirts
Check shirts are back again and tearing up men’s fashion for the second year in a row. With style roots embedded in the western genre, clothing doesn’t get much manlier. Check shirts look great worn over a vest, t-shirt, or even lightweight knitwear, and can give your outfit some creative and exciting layering options like this shirt from Burton at Outfit (Image 1.) Check shirts carry a strong “worker” vibe and are perfect for men of all ages. To complete the look throw on some dark slim jeans and a pair of high top trainers.
Top Tip: Don’t be afraid to go bold when picking your check shirt. By toning down the bottom half of your outfit and keeping it really simple, it’s easy to pull off eye-catching check shirts in strong red, blue and green colours.
Material: Knitwear
Knitwear is always a firm autumn/winter favourite and this year is no exception. Whether lounging at home on a wintry afternoon or navigating between pubs on a frosty evening, knitwear means absolute warmth. An exciting range of knitwear is on offer for all occasions and this season’s must have item is the cardigan. Pioneered by your granddad back in the day, the cardigan has been brought back up to date and is a favourite with celebrities such as David Beckham and Kayne West. Particularly on trend this season is the chunky knit style cardi, such as this mustard one from River Island (Image 2). The cardigan’s beauty lies within its versatility so try combining it with more formal wear to give your smart look the ultimate modern twist.
Top Tip: Knitwear is perfect for trendy top half layering, but avoid colour clashes when worn over a t-shirt. When it comes to knitwear, blending is best!
Accessories: Trapper Hats
Men can be guilty of ignoring accessories but a hip hat or a snazzy scarf can make or break an outfit, especially if it adds a splash of colour. With the chilliest months of the year just around the corner, the Trapper Hat is the perfect winter warmer for all your cold weather pursuits. Practical, fun, and stylish Trapper Hats come in a range of fabrics, patterns, and colours so it’s easy to find one to match any outfit. This fur lined Trapper Hat from Topman at Outfit (Image 3) will look great when paired with jeans or a lumberjack shirt.
Top Tip: To keep your hands toasty and fingers mobile this winter, match your hat with a pair of fingerless gloves. They are bang on trend and can be less annoying than their full-fingered counterparts when rooting around in your pocket for loose change.
Burton and Topman at Outift and River Island are available at Greenwich Shopping Park, off Bugsby’s Way, in Charlton. Visit www.greenwichshoppingpark.co.uk or follow us on Twitter, ‘ShopGSP’, for the latest fashion tips and news from the Park.
