Does Leona Lewis’ latest album have the X Factor?

Winner of the third season of popular reality TV talent show, The X Factor, R&B/pop singer Leona Lewis quickly rose to international stardom with the release of her 2007 debut, Spirit. With its accessible, Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston-like sound, the album topped the charts in both the UK and the US, a rare feat, particularly for such a young artist.

Lewis' catchy single, ‘Bleeding Love’, written by Ryan Tedder and Jesse McCartney, also reached the number one spot on the charts of every major country on the globe, cementing her status as a true pop phenomenon.

The second album, Echo, comes almost exactly two years after ‘Spirit’ catapulted her to international superstardom, so naturally expectations for the follow up are huge, and Leona does not disappoint.

A battery of massive names from the pop world including Ryan Tedder, Max Martin and Justin Timberlake have been enlisted to write and produce and Lewis co-wrote several of the album's tracks including the album’s lead single 'Happy', which is an amazing pop song.

Justin Timberlake has contributed production and vocals to several songs on the album, including ‘Don't Let Me Down’, written by Timbaland's protegé James Fauntleroy and recorded at Chalice Recording Studios.

Lewis said of the album: "I titled my album Echo, since an echo describes a big, organic sound. I'm working with incredible songwriters and producers, and my music has really evolved. It's so exciting to create something new." She added, "I'm actually more confident with this album than the last. I've taken more control this time and I feel more at ease with everything."

Lewis’ vocal acrobatics and lungs of steel teamed with such talented producers and songwriters have helped make this album even better than her debut, and it’s only going to further her success as an international superstar.
